Chlorine Generators or Salt Water Pool Systems?
We get many questions about salt-water pools, chlorine free pools or any other number of questions regarding chlorine generators, which is the correct definition of what many people are asking about. Chlorine Generators have been around for more than 30 years and are not a NEW idea in swimming sanitation. In fact they have come and gone several times in various designs. The process of making the chlorine with these systems is the same it is just the electronics and construction materials that has gotten significantly better over the years. Advanced microprocessors and electronics, better more resistant plastics and precious metals used in the cells have contributed to the advancement of this technology.
Solar Swimming Pool Heaters
Increasingly our customers are finding that Solar systems can significantly reduce swimming pool heating costs. They're very cost competitive with both gas and heat pump pool heaters and have very low annual operating costs (with the benefits of free sunshine).
A solar pool heating system usually has a payback of between 2 - 5 years, depending on your local energy costs and the location of your house. They also typically last longer than gas and heat pump pool heaters. Of course, your actual cost and payback depend on many factors.
What is a Vairiable Speed Pump?
Variable speed pool pumps are the most popular pool upgrade on the market today. Over the years numerous products have been introduced to help save pool owners money on their electricity bill. Nothing has been as effective in creating measurable cost savings as a variable speed pool pump.
Depending on your location many utility companies or local municipalities offer rebates for upgrading to a variable speed pump. Two speed pumps are also a less expensive option for energy savings but with the variety of variable speed pumps now on the market the price gap is much closer. With local rebates it is often cheaper to upgrade to a variable speed pump as opposed to a two-speed.
Not only are Variable speed pumps a good idea, many states such as California are now starting to require at least a dual speed pump. Check with your local energy company to see if you qualify for these rebates. Southern California Edison is currently offering a $200 consumer for upgrading to a dual speed pump.
